The perinatal journey isn’t always straightforward. From fertility, to pregnancy, birth and postpartum, there are many changes that create a lot of emotions! I’m here to support you, guide you and help you achieve your goals.
As a certified Counsellor, EMDR Practitioner, Hypnotherapist, HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator and Doula, I know how to confidentially hold space and what real support in the perinatal period looks like.
Whether you’re trying to conceive, experienced a loss or are struggling in your new role as a pregnant person or parent, it can be a lot to carry - and you weren’t meant to do it alone. I’ll help you unpack your feelings, and carry you towards healing, acceptance and resolution throughout your journey.
Welcome! My name is Maiya, and I am a Master’s level MA in Counselling Psychology student who is qualified to practice under clinical supervision, completing my placement with The Perinatal Wellness Centre. As a trained Birth & Postpartum Doula, I have had the amazing opportunity to support families prenatally and postpartum, and I’m excited to continue my work in this field in a new capacity! I also have extensive experience working with family’s with children with additional needs, as I worked as a special education teacher.
Utilizing a blend of therapeutic modalities, including humanistic and cognitive approaches, I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings and experiences without judgment. My goal is to provide you with the tools and resources necessary to navigate life’s challenges and build resilience.
I grew up in Halifax and settled back in my hometown after completing my undergraduate degree. Outside of my professional practice, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing board games, relaxing on the beach (when Halifax weather permits), and indulging in overpriced coffees! If you’re ready to take the first step toward understanding yourself better and achieving your goals, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can create a meaningful plan tailored just for you. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
